Married man jailed for defiling four-year-old girl

Tema, Sept. 17, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ’A’ has sentenced Michael Dzikunu, a 27-year old labourer to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a four year old girl.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of defilement and assault, but the court found him guilty, hence his 15 years defilement penalty and one year for assault. Both will run concurrently.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Stanley Dzakpasu told the court presided over by Justice Laurenda Owusu that the convict is married with two children whilst the complainant is the mother of the victim. Both are residents of Ashmang, a suburb of Tema New Town.

According to the prosecutor, on June 19th this year at about 1530 hours the convict called the victim who was by then playing with her friends to come for toffee.

Chief Inspector Dzakpasu said he lured the victim into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The Prosecutor said the victim, who started bleeding profusely, then rushed to inform her mother.

The court was told that when the girl’s mother confronted Dzikunu, he became offended and beat her up.

She consequently reported the matter to the Police and the convict was arrested.
