Marriage is a covenant not a contract – Rev Tomaoh

The debate by some school of thoughts in Ghana that marriage should be enforced by the government as a legally binding contract but not a lifetime union has seen many people sharing their view on the subject.

Rev Aaron Tomoah, Circuit Pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), Sowutuom, said, “marriage is a covenant of a man and woman and their relationship with God, but not a contract bounded by legal documents which is subjected to renewal”.

He said this while speaking on marriage as a sub topic at the 21-Day programme at the church on the theme “Christ Manifesto; Luke 4:18”.

Rev Tomoah told the congregation that as Christians, the success of their marriage is dependent on their maturity in Christ but not the societal definition of marriage.

He further urged Christians to stand tall and resist all pressures from the society that can lead to the breakdown of their marriages since the society is now defining how Christians should go about their marriages.

He added that God does not approve same sex marriage; hence, Christians should desist from such union to avoid the wrath of God.

Rev Tomoah advised parents never to cease praying and counselling their wards especially those in the boarding schools since the temptation is very high at that level.
