Techiman (B/A) July 19, GNA – The Techiman Municipal Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), received 152 cases between April and June this year.
Mr. Kwasi Asante-Boateng, Techiman Municipal Director of CHRAJ who disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman said out of the number, the office successfully resolved 33 in addition to 13 old ones that were pending.
He said 118 of the cases were still pending before the Commission, with one case withdrawn to be settled at home.
The CHRAJ Director noted that cases on marriage, child non-maintenance, tendency disagreement and refusal of pregnancy responsibility were high in the Municipality.
Mr. Asante-Boateng gave the breakdown of most prominent cases as tenancy, 36, child non-maintenance, 27, marriage, 15 and refusal to accept pregnancy, eight.
These cases, he said, have been a bother to the Commission, “but we are making efforts to solve them before it is too late.” The CHRAJ Director advised men to maintain their children, whose maintenance was the responsibility of parents as part of the rights of children.
Mr. Asante-Boateng called on men to accept in good faith pregnancies for which they know they are responsible. The Municipal Director asked landlords to be abreast with tenancy laws to avoid abusing the laws, freedom and rights of tenants that often led to ejection orders and conflicts.
