Market Fires: Local intelligence lack requisite expertise – Ade Coker

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, has explained that the government’s decision to engage the services of fire experts from the United States of America to unearth the cause (s) of fire outbreaks at the nation’s major markets, cannot in any way mean that the capabilities of local security and intelligence services are being run down.

Bringing in “special expertise” to help unravel the mystery surrounding the fire outbreaks is in order because for now the country’s intelligence services lack the adequate know-how.

Expounding further on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo,” he stated that due to the inability of the Ghanaian security apparatus to fully investigate the causes of the fires in the country, it was appropriate for the government to call for experts from the US.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong with it” because “there are certain forensic auditing that you must have a special knowledge and special skills,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the American experts have arrived in the country and have already begun their investigations.
