“March For Survival” In Kumasi Called Off

The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called off its planned march for survival in Kumasi.

The decision followed disagreement over the route for the march between the leadership of the party and the Regional Police Administration. This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Emmanuel Nti Fordjour in Kumasi today.

The statement asked members, supporters and sympathisers of the party to remain calm over what it termed the “unfortunate development’, that has forced the party to put off the function. It said the leadership would continue to dialogue with the Police until a compromise was reached.

The NDC’s march, which was supposed to have been participated by members and supporters drawn from all the 33 constituencies in the region, was to have come off on Thursday, May 29. The day, according to the statement, has now been fixed for a meeting of all the constituency chairmen of the party.
