Many not Befitting from health scheme after payment of premium

Techiman (B/A) May 8, GNA – Mr. Daniel Osei- Kuffour, Publicity Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in-charge of Techiman Municipality has called on officials of Techiman Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to expedite action on the implementation of the Scheme.

He said the effective implementation of the scheme would help it to be actualised since most less endowed people continued to suffer paying hospital fees and bills, after paying 80,000 cedis as premium to the scheme that had started operating in some parts of the country.

Mr. Osei-Kuffour made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman during which he also stated that the 80,000 cedis that had been paid by the registered member as premium to the scheme constituted the amount from January to December, saying that the contributors had therefore been cheated since the year was running out without receiving any benefit form what they had contributed.

Mr. Osei-Kuffour expressed regrets about the way some Radio Presenters do not cross check their facts about problems relating to the National Health Insurance Scheme but rather make wild comments that could jeopardise the scheme in the Municipality.

He asked the authorities connected with the scheme to educate the populace on its operations to let them know how it could be beneficial to the less endowed people in the rural areas.
