Accra, Aug. 31, GNA – A 32-year-old manservant, who defiled an 11 year-old girl was on Friday sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court. Kennedy Gbeve pleaded guilty to defilement and the Court convicted him on his own plea. The facts as presented by Chief Inspector Lawrence Gbele said Gbeve lived at the boys’ quarters of the complainant’s residence at Cantonment in Accra.
At about 1000 hours on August 26 when the victim went to the garage to pick her dresses the accused, who was naked, seized her, covered her mouth with his hand and defiled her. The prosecution said Gbeve warned the victim not disclose it to anyone else he would beat her. The victim who could not harbour the ordeal, however, informed her mother who reported the matter to the Police at Cantonment. 31 Aug. 07
