Manager in court for failing to pay workers SSNIT contribution

Assin Foso (C/R), Feb. 11, GNA – Mr Andrew Young, Managing Director of Assin Foso Young Timber Company Limited, was on Friday put before the Assin Foso district magistrate court for failing to pay his workers Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions amounting to GH¢260.00.

He pleaded guilty and would reappear on Thursday February 21. The SSNIT prosecution officer, Mr C.V. Wood-Ackom, told the court that between September 2006 and September 2007, Young deducted monies from his workers’ salaries but failed to pay it to SSNIT. He also failed to pay GH¢48.22 as penalty levied on the unpaid social security contributions.
