Management of HIS signs agreement with pharmacy shops

Suhum, Feb. 02, GNA – Management of Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Health Insurance Scheme has signed an agreement with two Pharmacy shops at Suhum for its clients.

The agreement as part of efforts to ensure provision of adequate drugs for the clients was signed with J.A. Kissi Providence Shop and Obuoba Pharmacy shop.

Mr Tulasi Kafui, District Manager of the Scheme announced this at a three-day workshop for 65 Health Insurance Agents at Suhum. He said the Scheme had made an impact on the people and they were responding to an on-going registration exercise in the district. Mr Kafui said the Secretariat paid over 100 million cedis on drugs for their clients at the hospital monthly.

He said to ensure most of the diseases were treated at the hospital, the Health Insurance Drug List had been increased from 18 to 22, and their clients would be served at the shops when the drugs prescribed were not available at the hospital.

Mr Kafui expressed concern about the poor attitudes of some health personnel especially staff of the Pharmacy Department and called on the Ministry of Health to address the issue because success of the scheme depended on health professionals.
