Management and staff of Audit Service organise float

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – The management and staff of Audit Service went on a float through some principal streets of Accra on Tuesday in commemoration of their centenary.

The celebration is under the theme “A Centenary of Public Sector Auditing, Defining New Frontiers”.

Mr Richard Q. Quartey, Auditor General, said the float was to create public awareness of their operations and pledged the commitment of management to solve challenges facing the staff.

Ms Lorraine Enyonam Nyatepe, Public Affairs Officer of the Service, told the GNA that other activities include special awards, durbar, an anniversary dinner and centenary thanksgiving service.

She explained that the service was responsible to check government actions in connection with the use of public resources and correct malpractices in the system by drawing attention of management for the appropriate action to be taken.

Ms Nyatepe cited inadequate human resource, vehicles and office equipment as some of the challenges facing the service.

She urged the public not to see the Audit Service as an enemy or to find faults but as an institution that ensures the various systems work efficiently and effectively.
