Man with Fake Currency Notes Before Tribunal

Techiman (Brong Ahafo) 23 June, ’98

A 32-year-old unemployed, Kwadwo Izzer, described by the police as a “jail bird”, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 205,000 cedis counterfeit notes in 5,000 cedis denominations at a Techiman circuit tribunal.

The police told the tribunal chaired by Mr. Justice Nicholas Abodakpi, that on June 15 this year, the police had a tip-off that Annor had arrived from ofinso in Ashanti with fake currency notes. The police therefore proceeded to Agosa, a village near Techiman and arrested the accused who had on him 165,000 cedis fake currency notes in 5,000 cedis denominations, most of which had the same numbers. gri
