Man shoots himself to death

Residents of Asatuase, a farming community near Ateiku in the Wassa East District of the Western Region are in a state of shock after news broke that a man had used a gun to commit suicide in the early hours of Sunday, May, 29, 2016.

Narrating the incident to Pulse.com.gh, Obama, a resident said one of the children of the deceased informed him that on Saturday, May 28, 2016, their late dad requested for a torchlight.

According to the children, the father had threatened to commit suicide that evening. Not taking their father’s threat serious, they brought him the torchlight and left him in his chamber.

A few hours later they heard some gunshots but they were afraid to enter the room, only for them to do so early Sunday morning to see their father’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood with his intestines gushed out.

Obama said the children then raised an alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene.

The body has since been deposited at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary by the Ateiku Police for autopsy whilst investigations continue.
