Man remanded for stabbing driver

Jonathan Kweku, a fufu pounder, has been remanded in Police custody by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court for allegedly stabbing a driver.

Kweku, 23, pleaded not guilty for causing unlawful harm and would reappear on June 12, 2013.

Briefing the court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong, Police Chief Inspector Kingsley Kwaku Antwi said Mr Isaac Opoku, the driver lives at Akim Otwereso in the Akyemansa District with the accused.

Chief Inspector Antwi said on June 6, 2013 at about 1930 hours a misunderstanding ensued between the accused and Mr Opoku’s mother which resulted into a quarrel and Kweku grabbed a knife to stab the victim’s mother.

He said when the complainant intervened to restrain Kweku, he was in turn stabbed.

The prosecutor said Mr Opoku was rushed to the Akim Oda Government Hospital whiles Kweku was arrested.
