Man remanded for causing harm to wife

Juaso (Ash), Feb 9, GNA – The Juaso circuit court has remanded Joseph Danso, a 62-year-old palm wine taper, in prison custody for allegedly causing unlawful harm to his wife who threatened to divorce him.

Danso pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on February 16. Police Chief Inspector Stephen Opare told the court that the accused and his wife were married for nine years but of late the woman had been threatening to divorce the husband for shirking his responsibilities as a husband.

On November 20 last year, while the couple were working on their farm, the accused asked the wife if she still maintained her decision to divorce him and the woman replied in the affirmative. The accused got angry and inflicted a deep cut at the back of the wife’s neck with a cutlass.

The wife struggled with the husband and this attracted other farmers who separated them and sent her to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital where she was admitted for one-and-half months.
