Man makes second appearance in Court for fraud

Bawku (U/E), Nov. 26, GNA- A notorious fraudster, who had earlier been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for defrauding a teacher of 101 million cedis by the Bawku Circuit Court last September, has been brought before the same court for a similar offence.

This time Alhaji Musah Issaka, 60, is to serve another 15 years in hard labour for defrauding Godwin Amoaba of 15 million cedis.

Prosecuting, Detective Sergeant Andrews Yirenkyi, told the court presided over by Jacob Boon that in October 2000, Amoaba was introduced to Issaka by a friend, Francis Apau at Bawku.

He said in the course of their conversation Apau told Amoaba that Issaka had an Opel saloon car that he wanted to sell at 40 million cedis. Amoaba showed interest and they bargained over it for a final settlement of 35 million cedis.

Amoaba made part payment of 15 million cedis with the promise of settling the rest in a month’s time.

However, Issaka did not release the car to him with the excuse that he needed to make some rounds to do proper documentation in Accra before handing over the car to Amoaba.

Detective Sergeant Yirenkyi said two weeks later, Amoaba heard that Issaka and his friend Apau, had been arrested and placed in police custody in Tema so he followed up to enquire about the car deal.

He said Issaka told Amoaba that he had spent the 15 million cedis deposit and that the car was in the possession of the police.

Issaka pleaded with Amoaba to wait for his release with the promise of selling his animals in Kumasi to refund his money, Sergeant Yirenkyi told the court.
