Man lynched by mob for murdering farmer

An irate mob on Saturday morning butchered a 25-year-old farmer to death at Morso near Juaso in the Asante Akim South District after he had murdered a colleague farmer.

The deceased, whose name was only given as Paul, was said to have slashed one Kwaku Kyei to death with a sharp machete and was attacked by the mob when he attempted to flee the community.

The bodies of the two have been deposited at First Klass Hospital morgue at Yawkwei pending investigation into the case.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, the District Police Commander, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the police went to the scene after the incident and learnt that Paul attacked and allegedly killed Kyei, who was on his way to farm with a little boy.

The little boy horrified, run home to inform his family members about the attack, just when the alleged assailant was getting ready to abscond from his house and he was pounced on by the angry mob, lynching him instantly, he said

The DSP said the reason for the attack is still not known and that investigation was on-going and appealed to the people of Morso to volunteer information that could provide useful leads to arrest those who participated in the mob action.
