Man killed in hunting expedition

James Tetteh, a 34-year-old farmer, who allegedly shot and killed his colleague during a hunting expedition at Dampong, near Asuboa, in the Asante Akim South District of the Ashanti Region, has been remanded into prison custody.

The Konongo magistrate court remanded Tetteh, said to have shot dead 30-year-old Stephen Kwame Amo, also a farmer, when he allegedly mistook him for a game, during the expedition with six other young men at Atwedie.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, District Police Commander who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the incident happened on Saturday, June 6.

He said after the man was shot, he was rushed to the Juaso District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body has been deposited at a private mortuary at Yawkwei, near Konongo.

DSP Latebu said the docket had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice, and advised the public to desist from group hunting, noting the practice often ended in tragedy.
