Twifo Praso (C/R), Nov. 27, GNA – Isaac Avorditey, a 20-year-old man from Baako Ndidi, near Twifo Hemang was on Friday sentenced to nine months imprisonment by a district magistrate’s court at Twifo Praso for threatening to kill his stepmother and her two children.
Avorditey, who pleaded not guilty to threat of death, was also bonded to be of good behaviour for 24 months or serve an additional six months in jail, when the court learnt that he had vowed to carry out his threat even, if he served a jail term.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector John Kpogo, told the court that on September 20, this year the convict approached his father, Mr Peter Avorditey, a farmer, to give him some money for a driving license. He said the father told him that he was ill and would only able to give him some money next year, but he became annoyed and threatened to kill his stepmother and her children, claiming that it was because of them that his father had refused to help him.
He said consequently, armed with a cutlass, he went to his father’s house three days later to carry out his threat, but an alarm was raised and he was over powered and arrested.
According to Chief Inspector Kpogo, even when he was arrested, Avorditey, vowed to kill them after serving any sentence that might be imposed on him.
