Man jailed 30 months for stealing three mobile phones

Bibiani (W/R), June 15, GNA – A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment by the Bibiani circuit court for stealing three mobile phones belonging to two licensed chemical sellers. Kofi Alhassan pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police Inspector Lucky Goglomi told the cour t presided over by Mr Kwaku Aboagye that on May 26 this year, the accused went to the first complainant’s chemical store at Agyakaa-Manso near Asankrangwa to purchase drugs.

He said while the complainant turned to look for the drugs, the accused secretly picked his two mobile phones, which were on the counter and bolted.

The complainant who suspected Alhassan reported the case to the police.

Inspector Goglomi said on May 31, the accused went to another chemical store in the town with the intent to purchase drugs and stole another mobile phone belonging to the owner of the shop. He said the accused was later arrested at his hideout and a search on him revealed that he had all the three phones.
