Man Jailed 3 Years for Theft

Kojo Asare, a welder and also a house-help was on Wednesday jailed for three years with hard labour for stealing his mistress’ property worth over fifty million cedis. He was convicted on his plea for the crime committed.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector J.K. Adu presenting the facts to a Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Mr. Imoru Ziblim said the accused who is a professional welder became a houseboy to the complainant a few years ago.

He said on February 6, the complainant, a trader at Makola Market left for her daily activities leaving Asare at home.

Mr. Adu said when the complainant arrived home that evening, she suspected foul play a search in her kitchen and bedroom revealed that the accused had made away with all her belongings.

On February 13, the complainant got a tip off that the accused was hiding at Teshie a suburb of Accra. She reported the matter to the police who arrested him and retrieved some of items from him.
