Man jailed 25yrs for raping pregnant woman

A 35-year-old labourer has been slapped with a 25-year jail term for raping and robbing a pregnant woman.

The convict, Eric Asamoah, according to the charge sheet robbed his victim Esther Aniwaa, who was pregnant, of a cash amount of GHC60.00 and a mobile phone worth GHC700.00, at Pokuase in Accra on August 18, 2015.

Narrating the incident to the court, the prosecution said the convict after trailing his victim at night on the said day after she had dropped from a commercial vehicle, ordered her to handover her handbag which contained the money and the mobile handset after which he had sex with her.

He was however arrested four days after the incident when the victim’s husband called her cell phone which was in the possession of the convict and feigned a businessman who wanted to do business with him.
