Tarkwa, Aug 9, GNA – A Tarkwa circuit court has jailed Issifu Wallah, an herbalist, 25 years for raping a woman he was supposed to cure of an ailment.
He pleaded guilty. Inspector Edward Paddy told the court that Fatima Kussassi lived with the husband Yakubu Kussassi at Abotare yie village near Wassa Damang.
In April, Yakubu sent his wife to the convict for herbal treatment and one day Fatima went alone to Wallah’s cottage to collect herbs. The herbalist requested her to go with him to collect herbs in the bush and Fatima obliged.
In the bush Wallah ordered Fatima to spread her piece of cloth on the ground and lie on it, threatening to harm her if she did not oblige. Wallah raped her but when she returned home she did not tell her husband until about two weeks later when a pastor revealed that someone had carnally known Fatima. She admitted it and Wallah was arrested.
