Man jailed 21 years for robbery

A Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mr William Boampong has sentenced a man accused of robbing a student of her money and cellular phone to 21 years imprisonment in hard labour.

Elijah Alaale, 23, attacked the victim, Munira Hamidu, in her room at Amanfrom near Kumasi.

He pleaded not guilty.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court the crime happened on August 11.

The Prosecutor said the convict burst into the room of the victim at midday and ordered her to choose between surrendering all her money or life.

He said the convict threatened to club her to death if she dared raise the alarm.

The victim let go her cash of GH¢65.00, which she had on her and the cellular phone valued at GH¢200.00.

The prosecution said Alaale escaped after the robbery but two days later, she was spotted by the victim and she caused his arrest.
