Man jailed 20 years for sodomy

Kumasi, April 9, GNA – A 35-year-old bicycle repairer has been jailed 20-years in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for sodomizing a 12-year-old boy.

Atta Kwadwo pleaded not guilty to the charge. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the Court that the boy lived with his mother in the neighbourhood of Kwadwo at Afratia, near Adumasa in the Ashanti Region.

On March 18, 2009 at about 0700 hours, the boy visited Kwadwo at his workshop to assist in the bicycle repairs.

After close of work at about 1900 hours, he took the boy to Bofuo, a nearby village to buy him food and later convinced him to stay overnight at his place.

Eager to learn the trade, the unsuspecting boy readily accepted to pass the night with Kwadwo at the workshop.

Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said Kwadwo had anal sex with the

boy in his sleep. The victim who felt some sharp pain in the course of the act woke

up and shouted for help, attracting neighbours, who came to his

rescue and handed Atta over to the Police.
