Man inserts stick in girl’s sex organ

Asamankese, Dec. 3, GNA – Kwabena Agyei, a 45-year-old petty trader, was on Thursday arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit Court for allegedly inserting a stick into the sexual organ of an eight-year-old girl. Agyei, who is charged with indecent assault and causing harm, pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody until December 16, 2009. Police Inspector Francis Asare-Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court that on November 22 at about 1420 hours, when the girl closed from school she remained behind to sweep the classroom.

He said after sweeping, the victim decided to attend to nature’s call but just before that, the prosecutor said, the accused, who sells stationery, called the girl to send her to buy him biscuit.

He said the accused grabbed the victim into an uncompleted school building put her on the floor and inserted a stick into her private part. The girl screamed for help but there was no one around to save her as the compound was deserted.

The prosecutor said Agyei before releasing the girl warned her that she would die if she should reveal the ordeal to anyone.

He said when the girl got home, her grandmother saw that her school uniform was stained with blood and questioned her about that.

She, however, refused to talk until the grandmother did a critical examination of her body and detected bleeding from her sex organ. The prosecutor said the girl was then sent to the Kade Government hospital where she was admitted for seven days to undergo intensive treatment.

While on admission, the girl revealed to the nurses and the grandmother what actually happened to her and a report was later made to the police and Agyei was arrested.
