Man in court for defilement

A circuit court in Accra on Wednesday remanded into prison custody John Kwesi Kundobe, a painter, for allegedly defiling a 13- year-old girl at Darkuman in Accra. Kundobe denied the offence and he will reappear on August 13.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant was a sprayer and the father of the victim. Prosecution said complainant, victim and the accused person lived on the same compound at Darkuman.

ASP Boafo said the complainant had entrusted the victim into the hands of the accused person and in May the victim went to the accused person who was sleeping in his kiosk to help her with her homework.

Prosecution said accused person after helping the victim, defiled her. On July 3, the victim was seen exchanging words with an elderly person so the accused person beat her up and on the same day the victim informed her father that the accused person had defiled her.

Kundobe was arrested after the complainant lodged a complaint with the Police.
