Man held by police over alleged gun offence

The police in Ashanti have arrested and detained a man over an alleged gun offence.

Yaw Boadu, alias “Abosi” is reported to have fired several shots from an unregistered locally-manufactured pistol to scare another person he had had an altercation with.

The weapon together with seven live BB cartridges, were recovered by the police.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Ampofo Duku, the Deputy Regional Commander, told a news briefing that the incident happened at Akyawkrom in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality on May 10.

The police received information at about 2130 hours that somebody had shot twice into the air with a gun and Boadu was arrested, three-days later.

It was reported that he fired the shots during a quarrel with one Kwadwo Yeboah, whom he threatened to kill.

The Deputy Commander said the suspect would be put before court after police investigations.
