Man found dead in his room

Begoro, May 18, GNA – The decomposed body of a 72-year-old man, Osei Brakatu, was found in his room when the police forced his door open at Begoro on Wednesday.

Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah of Begoro told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased, who hailed from Anum, had been a travelling frequently since the wife died some years ago. He said the last time the people in the house saw him was last Sunday, May 14 and they thought he had travelled again. Inspector Nkrumah said on Tuesday evening, the people scented an intermittent stench in the house but did not suspect it was coming from the deceased’s room.

However, he said on Wednesday morning, the stench became intense and when the occupants saw blood dripping from the room of the deceased they made a report to the police who went and forced the door open only to see the decomposed body on the bed.

He said the police were conducting investigation into the death. When the GNA reached the house, personnel from the Environmental Health Department of the District Assembly were disinfecting the house to subdue the stench before removing the decomposed corpse to the hospital for autopsy.
