Man fined for stealing grasscutters

Sekondi, Dec. 22, GNA – A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday fined Stephen Cudjoe 38, 220 Ghana cedis on his own plea for stealing two grasscutters valued at 100 Ghana cedis. In default, Cudjoe would serve three months imprisonment in hard labour.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Albert Deletsa said the complainant, Richard Essien a trader residing at Airport Ridge near Takoradi rears grasscutters at Egyam in Ahanta West District where the accused lives. He said during the night of December 13 this year, the accused stole two pregnant grasscutters from their cage while the complainant was asleep.

ASP Deletsa said the complainant conducted his own investigations, arrested the accused and handed him over to the police on December 19. He said during interrogation, the accused admitted the offence and said had sold them to one Yarebayewo who is at large for 11 Ghana cedis. ASP Deletsa said after investigation, the accused was charged with the offence. 22 Dec. 08
