Man fined for defecating behind bank premises

Suhum, Jan 22, GNA – A 26-year-old unemployed, Joe Harrison, who defecated behind a bank, had been fined 500,000 cedis or in default face three months’ imprisonment in hard labour by the Suhum Magistrate Court. He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Mr Philip Tawiah, a Senior Environmental Officer, told the court that the accused person and four others, now at large, had been defecating behind the premises of the Suhum branch of the Mumuadu Rural Bank as well as using the area to indulge in smoking Indian hemp and other hard drugs.

He said on January 18 the accused person and the four others were spotted by a witness defecating behind the bank.

He said the witness raised an alarm and with the assistance of some friends, the accused person was arrested whilst the others managed to escape.
