Man fined five million cedis for stealing bicycle

Tema, Aug. 11, GNA- A 27-year-old refrigeration mechanic at Ashaiman was on Wednesday fined five million cedis by the Tema circuit court ‘B’. Lekutay Kwame pleaded guilty. He will go to jail for 18 months in default.

Prosecuting, Inspector Teye Matey told the court that on July 7, this year the complainant parked his bicycle valued at 800,000 cedis at a house at Ashaiman to attend church service.

The prosecution said after closing from church, the complainant could not find the bicycle, and a witness in the case informed him that it was accused who took it.

A report was made to police and after investigation, it was found that accused sold the bicycle for 200,000 cedis.
