Man drowns in attempt to escape arrest

A 27-year old man, Paa Nii, got drowned on Friday, March 11, when he allegedly jumped into the Pra River to escape Police swoop on suspected narcotic dealers at Supormu-Dunkwa in the Shama District.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at a private mortuary at Aburansa, near Komenda, in the Central Region.

The Western Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Reuben Asiwoko, confirmed the Police operations, but he could not give details about the tragic incident.

However, an eyewitness, Ebo Blankson, said four persons jumped into the River upon receiving information about the police operations, but only three were rescued.
