Man convicted for fraud in Accra

An Accra Circuit Court has convicted and sentenced a screen printer to a fine of 300 penalty units, GHC3600, for fraud, or in default serve nine months in prison.

Henry Kwashie defrauded one Asamoah Jerry Robert of GHC8,000 under the pretext of facilitating his enlistment into either the Ghana Police Service or the Ghana Armed Forces.

According to the prosecution, led by ASP Stephen Adjei, the accused took the said amount from the complainant in January 2015 but failed to honour his promise.

The accused had at the initial stages of the trial denied the charges but was found guilty by the court.

The accused is to pay GHC3600 or in default serve nine months in jail and also pay GHC8000 to Jerry.
