Prenyase (Ash), Sept 5, GNA – A 30-year-old man said to be a mental patient receiving treatment at the Peaceful Healing Church at Prenyase near Jachie in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district was on Thursday found to have hanged himself.
Akwasi Frimpong was said to have been receiving treatment at the Church for about a year now and was recovering.
According to Inspector Thomas Bossman Tuffour of the Jachie Police, Pastor Edward Keteku, Head of the Peaceful Healing Church, who reported the incident to the police, said the deceased was sent to the Church with a mental problem about a year ago.
He said on September 3, 2004, there was a misunderstanding between Frimpong and another inmate and early the next day, he picked a quarrel with his mother, Madam Abena Ode after which he went to the bush and hanged himself after he attempted stabbing himself with a knife. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy. 05 Sept 04
