Man commits suicide at Gushiegu

An unidentified man believed to be in his 20s committed suicide by hanging in an uncompleted building at Garichefong, a suburb of Gushiegu in the Northern Region.

The incident, which occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday at the uncompleted building opposite the Gushiegu Government Hospital, astounded many residents.

It is unclear what motivated the deceased to commit the act.

The police found a school bag laden with clothes and porridge in a polythene bag on a table he used to commit the act.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the unfortunate incident to DAILY GUIDE, disclosed that the body had since been deposited at the Gushiegu Government Hospital for autopsy.

According to him, residents of Gushiegu could not identify the deceased and appealed to residents in environs to report cases involving missing persons to the police.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that there was no foul play in the death of the deceased.
