Man commits suicide after shooting wife

Ateiku (W/R), Dec. 1, GNA – Yaw Osae, a farmer at Subri near Ateiku, in the Western Region committed suicide after shooting his wife dead at dawn on Tuesday.

Osae blew out the abdomen of the woman thereby killing her instantly after which he shot himself on the chest with a single barrel gun.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Atieku on Wednesday, Chief Inspector Joseph Agbedor of Ateiku Police said at dawn on Tuesday one Yaw Ahema heard a gunshot in a nearby house and this attracted him to find out what was happening.

On reaching the house, he saw both Fati and Osae lying in a pool of blood.

Explaining further, Chief Inspector Agbedor said the relationship between the couple had become strained in recent days and as a result the woman had moved from her marital home to stay with her father. Unknown to Fati, Osae had been tracking her movement and at dawn on Tuesday, Osae shot her when she had woke up from bed.

Both bodies have been deposited at the Government Hospital mortuary at Tarkwa.
