Man arrested over attempts to steal minerats at Kanda Mosque

A middle-aged man was almost lynched Wednesday night when he attempted stealing minarets used in decorating the Kanda mosque in Accra.

The man sustained injuries after he was beaten mercilessly for climbing the newly built mosque to collect the minarets. Minerats are used for the beautification of mosques. They are believed to have been made of gold.

The suspect was, however, saved by some NADMO officials and sent to the Nima Police station.

Abdulla sham‘un Bako, an eyewitness, told Starr News “ We have no idea who the man is because a lot of people come in and out of the Mosque but this man was able to climb the building and started to remove the minarets used in decorating the mosque. It was an intention to steal so the people started beating him until he was rescued by some NADMO officials and sent to the Nima Police Station”.

The Police at Nima have initiated investigations into the matter.
