Man arrested for robbing journalist

A man suspected to have attacked and robbed a journalist of his laptop computer and mobile phones at Ejisu has been nabbed by the police.

Zakari Jebril, alias “Atambaya” together with one Kwabena Sarfo, who is on the run, allegedly committed the crime on April 13 this year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Ampofo-Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told a media briefing that his arrest was based upon police intelligence.

He said the suspect has already confessed to the offence and would be arraigned to answer to the charges.

The victim, Kofi Akorsah, was attacked in broad daylight by the two suspects, who seized the items and some cash.

He attempted to resist but they hit and hurt him with a machete before they escaped.

ACP Ampofo-Duku gave the assurance that they would do everything to track down and arrest Jebril’s accomplice.
