Man arrested for possessing narcotics without authority

A police patrol team on routine duty at Half Assini in the Jomoro District of the Western Region on Monday arrested a 22-year-old driver, Eric Boadi, for possessing narcotics without authority.

The Western Regional Police Crime Officer, Mr. James Kofi Abraham, confirmed the case to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Half Assini.

He said the police saw a tipper truck with registration number GT 9940-U parked on the shoulders of the road along Half Assini and Atwebanso stretch.

The crime officer said the police found two bags of dry leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp in the vehicle.

Mr. Kofi Abraham said the police interrogated the driver about the ownership of the stuff but he denied knowledge of the substance.

He said the substance had been forwarded to the police forensic laboratory in Accra for examination.**
