Man arraigned for defiling 6-year old boy

Shaibu Issah, an 18-year-old unemployed, on Wednesday appeared before Takoradi Circuit Court “B” for allegedly defiling a six- year- old boy.

The court, presided over by Mr. Justice Charles Nimako remanded the accused, who pleaded not guilty, to re-appear on May 15.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Fuseini Yakubu told the court that the complainant, Thomas Aletu Annor, a security guard and father of the victim lived at Kojokrom while the accused stayed at Assorko Essaman.

He said on September 12 last year, Annor with the help of Isaac Sagoe and General Constable Alan Smith, a policeman at Kojokrom Police Station, arrested the accused and took him to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Sekondi.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said the complainant told the Police that he had been informed by one Isaac Sagoe that he saw the accused defiling the victim through the anus in a bush near the Kojokrom train line.

He said the victim told the complainant that the accused defiled him on 10 occasions after which he warned him not to inform anybody.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said after the latest defilement, the accused bought food for the victim.

He said a police medical form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to a hospital for medical examination.

Police investigations revealed that the victim was returning from a nearby bush where he went to ease himself, when the accused called him.

He said the accused dragged the victim, to a bush near wooden kiosk and had sex with him through the anus and warned him not to tell anyone.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said the accused admitted the offence in his caution statement and attributed it to the work of the devil.
