Man and wife held over the death of senior wife

Rueben Gavor, 36, a Security Officer at the Ketu-South Municipal Hospital at Aflao, and his second wife are being held by the police following the death of his senior wife, Rose Dzigba.

A police source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Gavor was married to Dzigba aged 38 and later married Mana Afenu, 25. They bore him a child and two respectively.

The source said Gavor lived at Hatsukope near Denu together with his two wives who quarreled often and were not on talking terms.

The source said at about 0530 hours on Friday January 11, Dzigba’s daughter found her groaning and complaining of stomach and heart aches and the daughter alerted her father but he ignored the deceased.

The source said Dzigba died half an hour later.

The source said Gavor and his junior wife quickly sneaked out of the house into hiding leaving behind the deceased’s daughter alone who informed her maternal relatives and the police about what had happened.

The source said about 1700 hours same day, the police picked up Gavor in a friend’s room and Afenu at her family house in the same community both of whom said they were scared of the deceased’s body.

The source said the two suspects are in police custody as investigations continue.
