The deceased, Kodjo Sophehu, was said to be a security worker at Mount Mary College of Education in Somanya.

The Akuse District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Ackah, told Today that the incident occurred at around 1:30 A.M., last Saturday.

He indicated that the unidentified thieves were busted by a Good Samaritan with goats suspected to have been stolen, after an alarm has been raised.

ASP Ackah continued that the deceased and other residents who heard the noise came out to assist.

According to ASP Ackah, it was at this point that Kodjo Sophehu was shot and died on the spot by the suspected thieves who bolted after the incident.

He said the body of the deceased has since been sent to the Atua Government Hospital for autopsy whilst the police are conducting investigations into the matter.

ASP Ackah appealed to the general public to assist the police with information to help arrest the suspects.

He also advised the public to be vigilant and also not hesitate to give to the police any information they have about the runaway suspects.
