Man, 39, charged with raping JSS girl

Agona Swedru (Central Region), 7th May ?99 ?

An Agona Swedru Circuit court has remanded Anthony Kofi Awuah Donkor, a guard of the Agona district assembly, in prison custody for allegedly raping a 15-year-old JSS One girl.

Donkor, 39, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will reappear in court on May 14.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Comfort Buabeng told the court, presided over by Mr Tom Bentil, that the accused, who is a friend of the girl’s father on April 13, was reported to have punished the girl for being disrespectful.

The prosecution said the accused went to the grandmother of the girl again without the knowledge of her mother, saying he had been asked to come and punish her.

He then dragged the girl to his house, tied her hands and legs and shaved her head when they entered his room.

The accused then stuffed her mouth with a piece of cloth and forcibly had sex with the girl.

After the act, Donkor allegedly took a bucketful of water, poured it on the girl and escorted her to the house.

According to the prosecution, a medical report on the girl revealed that Donkor had sexually assaulted her.
