Kumasi, Aug 20, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court presided over by Mr Adutwum Mmorosah has remanded a 25-year-old unemployed for allegedly raping a 19-year-old house help.

Issah Ibrahim is among the three suspects who allegedly gang-rapped the victim at Asawasi in Kumasi. His plea was not taken and will re-appear on September 24.

The two accomplices, Yusif and Majeed who are said to have raped the victim in turns till she became unconscious, are on the run. A police source at the Domestic violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Kumasi who briefed the GNA after the court session, said a by-passer who heard the screams of the victim while the suspects were trying to revive her from the state of unconsciousness, reported the incident to the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Azumah, who is the employer of the victim.

The source said the complainant made a report to the Asawasi police who accompanied him to Issah’s room where they found the victim naked and Issah then alone in the room and was arrested. Issah mentioned the names of the two suspects now on the run. 20 Aug 07
