Man 25, charged with robbery

Cape Coast Aug. 17 GNA- Issaka Dauda, a 25-year-old unemployed man, from Ampenyi near Komenda, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly stealing at knife-point. Dauda, who pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry, stealing, causing unlawful harm and attempting to escape from lawful custody, would re-appear on Tuesday August 31.

Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on August 11 this year, the complainant, a fisherman at Elmina, went for fishing and asked his younger brother to sleep in his room.

He said at about 0630 hours the next morning, the complainant returned from fishing and was informed by his brother, that Dauda had entered the room at dawn, and had pulled a knife on him and took away his personal effects.

He said the complainant reported the matter to the police, and later confronted the accused.

The prosecution said the accused attacked him, pushed him to the ground and attempted to stab him with a knife.

The accused was however arrested and taken to the police. GNA
