Accra, April 17, GNA – The Mamprobi Polyclinic has recorded 39 suspected cholera cases over a period of one week, an official of the clinic said on Monday.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra, Mrs Mavis Dowuona, a staff nurse at the recovery ward of the Polyclinic, said series of tests were being run to verify whether they were actual cholera cases.
She said patients both men and women from the neighbourhood, reported with vomiting and diarrhoea and though some were treated and discharged, some were still on admission.
Mrs Dowuona explained that the Polyclinic occasionally received cholera cases and it was likely to go up as the rainy season approached. She urged all to ensure environmental cleanliness, always eat hot or warm food, wash hands before and after eating, wash hands with soap after visiting the toilets and report any suspected cases to the nearest clinic for prompt attention.
She said the Polyclinic had a standby generator for use during power outrages adding that they did not receive as many cases during this year’s Easter holidays compared to last year.
