Mampong MP sponsors vacation classes for 1,200 students

Mampong(Ash), Aug. 10, GNA – Thousand two hundred (1200) junior high school leavers and senior high school students in the Mampong constituency in the Ashanti Region are to benefit from the Member of Parliament (MP) sponsored one- month free vacation classes estimated to cost GH¢15,000.

The classes being organised at Ashanti Mampong and Kofiase would cover selected elective subjects including Geography, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Accounting, English Literature, General Knowledge in Arts and all core subjects except social studies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Amaniampong Senior High School on Monday, Mr. Francis Addai Nimo, the MP advised students to strive hard to acquire information technology, which he said was one of the three main sources of power in today’s global world. He charged the students to show commitment, work hard, be disciplined and co-operate with the tutors who have sacrificed their time and energy to teach them.

He said after the programme, students who would perform well and adjudged as the best in the examination to be conducted, would be awarded scholarships.

Mr. Daniel Appau Ohyeaman, Municipal Chief Executive said without education, poverty would never be eradicated and appealed to the students to make good use of the opportunity offered to them. Mr. Frank Yaw Musah, Municipal Director of Education said, the vacation classes was an alternative way for the students to make good use of their time and asked them to co-operate with their tutors to make the programme a success.
