Mammography Machine Under Utilised

A mammography machine installed at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital since 1999 is lying idle. This is due to poor patronage by women in the Western region.

Mr Solomon Tagoe, Principal Radiographer of the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday that the few cases reported at the hospital are referrals from the Eikwe Government Hospital.

Mr Tagoe said only 22 cases were treated between January and April, even though, the machine which has capacity to screen over 200 patients per month.
