Kasoa, June 1, GNA- Malaria cases topped the list of the 10 most common diseases reported at the Out-Patient Department of the Kasoa Health Centre.
Mr Isaac Lamptey, the Medical Centre said 69,635 cases of malaria were recorded, last year.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Tuesday, Mr Lamptey said, 10,217 who were attacked by the ailment in 2003 were treated as against 4813 in 2002.
Last year, 10,476 cases of Diarrhoeal disorders were recorded as compared to 1,373 in 2003 and 806, the previous year. Mr Lamptey said 10,044 skin disease cases were recorded last year, 1,371 in 2003 and 745 cases in 2002, while the centre handled 4,216 anaemia cases in 2004, 447 in 2003 and 257 in 2002. Accidents cases such as fracture and burns accounted for 5,501 last year, 917 the previous year and in 2002 the figure stood at 1343. Mr Lamptey said Gynaecological disorders for last year were 3,800, 615 in 2003 and 275 in 2002.
Typhoid stood at 4,225 in 2004, while no cases were recorded during the period under review.
Gastro intestinal disorders were 4042 in 2004, 722 in 2003 and 586 in 2002.
Mr lamptey said the load of work at the centre called for the upgrading of the medical facility into a Polyclinic.
