Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has rallied behind the Black Queens with a heartfelt message of support ahead of their high-stakes semi-final clash against hosts Morocco at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat.
The Ghanaian women’s national team are set to face the North African giants today, Tuesday, July 22, with a place in the final up for grabs, a feat Ghana hasn’t achieved since 2016.
In a statement released ahead of the match, Jordan Ayew expressed deep pride in the team’s performance and called on them to seize the moment.
“To my sisters, the Black Queens! I’m beyond proud of the way you’ve represented Ghana on the biggest stage. “Your determination, skill, and teamwork are an inspiration to us all.”
“As you prepare to take on Morocco in the semifinals, I want you to know that the entire Ghanaian football family is behind you,” he continued. “We’re rooting for you, and we believe in your ability to make history. Go out there, give it your all and make Ghana proud! Let’s do this, Queens!”
Today’s opponents, Morocco, are no pushovers. The Atlas Lionesses are looking to go one better after finishing runners-up in the last edition and will have the advantage of home support.
With national attention focused on the showdown, Ayew’s words echo the hopes of millions of Ghanaians eager to see the Queens make history and possibly bring home Ghana’s first-ever WAFCON trophy.
